I’m making the Juneteenth June 19 1865 Stars African American T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this assumption that the nursing home industrial complex has lobbied real hard against people having the right to end their own lives… most of the resistance against medically assisted suicide are due to right wing religion. not medical lobbyists. Also (generally speaking) the same party that opposes funding healthcare while using scare tactics to appeal to senior voters. This is why we need Death with Dignity legalized, and it shouldn’t be practically impossible to be granted DWD. My grandfather thankfully had medically assisted dying available and he very peacefully passed on a lot of drugs. I can’t imagine putting people in that position. “end of life care” in America is just the stage at wich capitalism keeps you barely alive, as long as possible, to drain all the money you’ve set aside/accumulated. Know this is coming late but I was my grandmas hospice caretaker when she had cervical cancer and was given 6 months to live. This is in Oregon with death with dignity act. She had an agreement with her doctor that she would be able to take her life when the pain got too much. Well time came – she said call up Dr ***** I knew exactly what this meant because the hospice Dr’s took over once hospice kicked in. She had this long time understanding with her primary care physician.

So I call hospice qnd tell them what she just said and that she was ready. Hospice must not have known about this understanding because the Juneteenth June 19 1865 Stars African American T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this nurse that came said it would be impossible as she has to be able to administer the life killing drugs herself and she had lost all mobility in her hands to to chemo. I told grandma this, called all of my grandmas sons and daughters and told them to come here asap. They flew in from thousands of miles away on the next available flights. Once they were all here they and my grandma came up with a plan. Fire fucking hospice and get the job done themselves. The program director for hospice comes and interviews grandma and spends time at the house with us. And then writes my grandma a prescription.
