Jez, what fucking idiots. Not even consideration for someone who can speak English? Is it THAT HARD To have an emergency translation hotline or something ready? People die because of that. Not gonna go there any time soon. Recently I was in France (the south) if that makes a difference, But I had to call an ambulance luckily nothing too serious although still very much needed within a reasonable time. It took me nearly 30 minutes to get an English speaking dispatcher on the phone and 35 minutes for an ambulance to arrive while the hospital was a 15 minute drive at most. It is incredible that in such a touristy place they can’t facilitate english speaking personnel. If it becomes something of significance, I’d feed your story to the news. I bet they would eat that up and maybe actually spur some change in the system.

He said this one day he was just tired and hungover driving around alone and he wasn’t paying attention and drove it off of a small cliff. He was totally fine and climbed back up to the road and hitch hiked home. He said he was never called about the missing ambulance or his job. After a while he got bored and just moved to the United States and he’s still never been asked by anyone about where the ambulance went or what happened. We need to dramatically redirect resources, focus, and effort, to climate catastrophe management and prevention. Controlled burns fucking everywhere. Better systems for warning (looking at you Hawaii) etc.
