It hurts when they ignore me saying they won’t find anything in my arm. Then they (obviously) can’t get any blood and have to stick my hand. “Oh no, I don’t want to stick your hand, it’ll hurt more.” Then the blood flows -so easily-. Barely any pain. Nah not at all. I always hated needles but it feels like a paper cut and some slight pressure where you get blood drawn. Feels like If someone was grabbing your arm. No if it goes smoothly. Yes if it misses, your vein slides and gotta readjust the needle, the needle overshoots poking through the vein, or the vein pos and they’re gonna insert again. I’ve had quite a few blood tests (last year I got one twice a month) and I’ll say no, they don’t hurt. It’s not literally painless, you’ll feel the needle go in, but that’s it. It’s a 1/10 on the pain scale.

If nobody’s said it yet, make sure you drink plenty of water before your test! If you are dehydrated it is harder for them to find a vein and they might need to poke you more than once before it works.
