Last Christmas Santa slipped on the Jerry Hockey Shirt and I will buy this icy roof and now he’s disabled. Mrs Clause got covid and died. It’s been a rough year for the Clauses’. He’s still in litigation too. The accident happened out of state, and is technically workers comp even though he was done his shift cause he was taking a cookie break in his work sleigh. Nationwide, Aflec, and Anthem just pointing fingers back and forth. Black wheel chair Santa is about as inclusive as it gets. He just needs to be gay and maybe have alopecia and we’re solid. It is. They were also selling an ornament which was a block of blue cheese and one of a shrimp cocktail. I’m so in the weeds with their choices. Nice. My daughter and I have a tradition every year where we buy the derpiest ornament we can find. Target is a goldmine. I bought one yesterday. I think they’re adorable. My fiancée uses a wheelchair and I think he’s just the cutest dude on 4 wheels. There was a similar ornament last year that was a deer! My youngest son (4) is getting his wheelchair soon (muscle issues. He’ll be using it for his entire life) and while we were at Target last year his older brother went “look! This will be Emrys soon!” And then without asking he put it in the cart so that “Emrys has his own ornament too”. Stuff like this melts my heart. I’m happy to see it. Idk if I was in a wheelchair and suddenly had characters marketed to me as disabled, I’d feel like it’s condescending.

You likely wouldn’t be getting a wheelchair if you weren’t disabled in the first place, and disability isn’t a bad word anyway.
