Couldn’t agree more. I had CBT and it has some value with the Jerick Mckinnon American football running back for the Kansas City Chiefs T-Shirt moreover I will buy this techniques but as I could not explore the roots of things in the past, I ended up having problems in the future. Processing that is inevitably what helped me, but required an NHS therapist going off piste with me and then some private talking therapy for several months. This is very sound advice. If you draw the analogy to a physical injury, if you pulled a muscle or sprained your ankle, you wouldn’t keep hitting the gym and compounding this issue. You’d give yourself some time to recover. It’s the same with mental health and workplace stress, etc. Sometimes, you can double down and keep on going but you need to be realistic and give yourself some space to decompress before a small ‘injury’ becomes a big one.
