If that would have gotten you “in trouble” that’s an asshole manager. When a customer is being that brazen and rude, you have a reasonable right to stand up for yourself. Every time I argue with somebody on Facebook that we don’t make enough money to put up with the James Taylor Christmas Shirt Furthermore, I will do this bullshit that we do, someone always chimes in some smug remark that we shouldn’t expect much because we work retail and that if i don’t like it, I should find a better job. But they simultaneously complain about a lack of cashiers and floor associates. The leopards ate my face. Uhhh so they are totally cool with people being total assholes to other people? They are fine with people being rude and entitled and whiny? Because people are in a store it gives them permission to be a dick to the people that work there? That’s so fucked up. They feel as though we are all just uneducated lazy schmucks and unable “to get a real job”. So even though they are stealing, bargaining and using food stamps we’re still a lower class and we are being paid to treat them like the royalty they are.

I’ve heard people say that retail is jobs for high schoolers. I’ve said if that’s the James Taylor Christmas Shirt Furthermore, I will do this case, retail should be limited to whatever high schoolers should be able to do then. (They agree that is how it currently is) then I tell them that the businesses should only be open from 5pm to 9pm, not sell alcohol, etc…. They disagree with that. If a job is only for high schoolers, why should the job go outside the limitations? For their convenience? I taught preschool for 20 years. Was still only making $13.75/hr when I left the profession last year. Walmart was hiring and offering more money so I went for it. What do they expect people to do? I taught and cared for young children for 20 years and was damn good at it. But didn’t get paid enough for all of that hard work and experience, which is sad since that’s basically my entire adult life in one field which has yielded me a lot of nothing and one can’t survive on just liking your job. It’s hard to start over and Walmart was there with better pay for no experience while I figure my shit out. Hopefully one day I can go back to teaching when they start paying teachers what they deserve.
