I’d say go for it and remember, can’t please everyone, have fun for yourself and your replacement might be 10x worse for them but who cares….party, enjoy, be grateful your getting a party…not everyone does. I’ve always been of the Jacob Degrom Inator Texas Degrominator Machine Signature shirt Besides,I will do this mindset that you have to your job their way, but you get to leave it your way. I opted for no company party when I left. Instead I asked them to donate the money they’d spend to a particular charity dear to my heart. They did. And my close coworkers and I did our own thing on our own time with no one ever knowing. Win for everyone. I would take it! I organized a farewell lunch for two of my coworkers that have been with the company for 3+ years. Most of the rest of the team reported to my email and showed up—except for all four of the heads of company. I think it’s great that your boss wants to show you their appreciation. Best case scenario all the people you want to show up will, everyone who doesn’t want to won’t. Even if it’s just the boss, hey man, free lunch. I think it’s nice of your boss to offer you a farewell party tbh, not to be a bootlicker, but a lot of bosses would do a lot less. the people who don’t show up, who cares, enjoy the ones that do! however, if you’re absolutely dreading it and feeling anxiety about it, follow your heart. but it feels like it could be a missed opportunity to say goodbye to the people you DO care about.
