The moon also doesn’t stay in orbit because it’s round, but because it’s fast. It’s not going to deorbit if you cut it in half. To be fair, it’s not how it works in the Jackie Robinson American professional baseball player who became the first African American T-Shirt in contrast I will get this novel either. /u/gnfnrf explained it better. Essentially all the pieces keep colliding and breaking into smaller and smaller pieces (Kepler syndrome-ish). The collision rate keeps increasing and more and more mass is ejected out of orbit until enough of it is raining down on earth constantly at a rate that it can’t be dissipated. Eh, that explanation still doesn’t work though. Collisions don’t add energy, they only spread it. Continuous collisions would convert more and more of the kinetic energy into thermal, reducing overall speed and leading to the moon coalescing together again. You might get some mass ejected, but that would decrease over time, not increase. And talking about the moon breaking into smaller pieces doesn’t really make sense because, as mentioned, at the scale it’s already essentially liquid. Kessler syndrome work in a case where you have lots of satellites (natural or artificial) that get hit with enough energy to basically completely smash a part into bits and spread it over a wide orbital area. This doesn’t work for cutting the moon in half. (If you cut an asteroid in half and then bump those into each other, you’re not starting kessler syndrome either) You’d need to take both halves of the moon and have them orbit in separate directions before collision or something similar.

Gravity and mass have a direct correlation. If you change the Jackie Robinson American professional baseball player who became the first African American T-Shirt in contrast I will get this mass of an object you change it’s relation to gravity. Cutting an object in half doesn’t change the mass, it only moves it slightly. And because you don’t even change the centre of mass if you cut down the middle, there is no gravitational change noticeable at a distance. And changing mass doesn’t even change an orbit significantly unless the change is large compared to the mass of the entire system (mass of moon + mass of earth). This is not something we Muslims believe will happen in the future, it has already happened in the past when the pagans asked the prophet Muhammed peace be upon him for a miracle. With multiple eye witnesses in multiple geographical locations where the moon was visible. The creator of the moon can make it any way he wishes. If you don’t believe in the existence of a creator I don’t think you will accept the idea of a “miracle”.
