I have to hard disagree. I’d never hold that against anyone interviewing with me and I don’t know any interviewers that would. Maybe that’s industry practice or trend but to me it’s much more important what the Jack skellington collab led Zeppelin signature halloween shirt in contrast I will get this person did during those 6 months than the fact they got laid off. In fact, a 6 month stint at any company isn’t unheard of due to the prevalence of contract work. Looking at a resume you can’t know if they were fired, laid off, or if they just fulfilled their contract. the real issue is that he wasn’t able to build up 2-3 yoe, and now can’t get a new job. Being laid off after 6 months from an entry level job at a known failing company is not really a black mark on your resume. The last time I was laid off was during a global downturn. LOTS of people were laid off. Every recruiter and interviewer still wanted details, even though it was blitheringly obvious what happened and they’d probably already interviewed multiple people with a resume gap around the same period. If my resume hadn’t shown years of prior uninterrupted experience I may not have got those interviews at all.

People who review resumes aren’t big thinkers. They’re ticking boxes. Little experience + a layoff after 6 months IS a problem. i understand they might want some type of verbal explanation, but I’d argue it is not a black mark. true though, even if you have a good excuse for being laid off, in this downturn environment or any downturn environment, companies can afford to be picky and need to to be.
