I think that is one of your bigger problems. There are likely a lot fewer C++ jobs than other programming languages. FAANG have a high opinion of their employees and potential employees. They want smart people, and they think languages are easy to learn. Average (most companies) look for experience with specific languages. I’ve not worked at FAANG, but have a friend who does. We’ve compared notes on how interviewing is handled/viewed, and it’s pretty different.
