People always focus on shit like Yoda saying to let the It’s Willy Benson Time shirt and I love this ancient Jedi texts burn, like they cared so much about “ancient Jedi texts” before. Like come on. That was never part of Star Wars. It’s not a metaphor for burning the old films. If it’s a metatextual metaphor for anything, it’s a plea to bring Star Wars back to how the original trilogy treated Jedi and the force. The Last Jedi is the most Original Trilogy-pilled movie in the whole sequel trilogy, even more so than the one that’s a complete retelling of the original. I mean, it’s literally saying, “Hey remember when the Jedi were cool mystical heroes, before they were revealed to be this shitty bureaucracy that fucked up so hard they all died? What if we made a movie about bringing it back to that version of them.”

The prequels already showed that institution to be dysfunctional at best, and more often actively harmful. They failed Anakin and lost him to the It’s Willy Benson Time shirt and I love this dark side, causing their own downfall. Except for the part where their dysfunction and downfall was directly caused by evil space wizards secretly controlling the government and plotting their downfall for decades. Take Palpatine and the Sith out of the equation and the Jedi along with the Old Republic continue to thrive. Anakin never falls to the dark side if there was no Palpatine actively grooming and tempting him. The whole point the franchise is making is that you can’t do that. “Evil exists, deal with it” is a huge part of the message. Shits on the character of luke and what he represents, make leia survive the vacuum of space, makes the “new emperor” irrelevant, suddenly space travel needs fuel when it has never been established in the lore (at least in movies). Poor written dialogues as well as poor written characters and the plot well…This being said, this is MY opinion, anyone can like whatever they like im just saying i just don’t get it.
