An argument that I have heard, is that if America had socialized medicine, that you would have long waits for any sort of healthcare, and that we have such good healthcare here, that Canadians and other countries come here to get treatment. Granted, that was like 20 years ago, but I doubt they changed their minds. ok my answer will be burred in all the It Must Be Derby Day. Nice Hat Kentucky Derby Day Horse shirt and by the same token and comments but here it goes. i am from EU country that has “free” health care and lived in UK for few years then moved to US. I was one of those people asking the same thing. How come there is no free health care in the US? And after few years living in US I can tell you – free health care would cost SO much it would kill the country. Why you may ask? People in US are fucking sick to the bones. They are eating shit, not taking care for themselves, drinking tons – and a LOT of people because of that have TONS of medical issues. With free health care – hospitals would be practically under siege, medical system would be clogged with people with TONS of health issues that are based in poor nutrition, alcohol and ignorance. Generally, people fear that socialized healthcare will lead to an even more bureaucratic or slow healthcare system which will end up in additional costs in the long run.
