A well trained full contact martial artist would be able to hurt a man of any size. That takes years of dedication and it’s why “women only, good vibes” self defence courses are useless. You could be a third Dan black belt in bjj but a fat 300lb motherfucker charging you and slamming you into a wall ain’t a negotiable sparring session – you’re at their mercy if you’re a normal sized like 150lb woman Especially when most martial arts places are Mcdojos emphasising tournament sparring and not a progression towards mma or anything like that, especially if it’s classes aimed at women not even mentioning you’re far less likely to walk into a Balkan/ soviet boxing gym and stick around Exactly, also very concerning the Isaiah Livers American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards T-Shirt moreover I will buy this amount of people recommending BJJ. It’s arguably the absolute worst martial art for use in a street fight kind of situation unless your attacker decided to approach you scooting on his arse like a dog with worms

Given your extreme scenario I agree and it’s regardless of gender, but if you can avoid getting grabbed in the Isaiah Livers American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards T-Shirt moreover I will buy this first place then fat or not shit hurts. I’ve never been to a mcdojo myself but i’d think it’s the majority of them, especially multi discipline chains. Hell even if you are trained then you should do enough cardio do be able to sprint 500m away and only then consider fighting Moved from the US, and I was honestly shocked that pepper spray is illegal here, it’s an extremely good self defense tool. That said, violence in the UK and the US is difficult to compare considering the vast differences in law. But I will say that it brings a lot of peace of mind to have a small canister that can stun an attacker It’s also a good attacking tool, and if it were legal to carry, it would be used vastly more for this purpose than for defence, as is the case in USA. This is why the rational conclusion is to ensure it is only available for use by police or armed forces, not by the general public. There’s no point, unless you are doing it for fun and physical exercise. I’ve done these classes, and I have even reached black belt after training for over 10 years, and there is nothing I can do if someone pulls a knife on me. I am a man by the way. Your only option is to run or comply. We did drills to protect our selves from a knife attack, if i used these drills in the real world I would be slashed and lucky to end up in hospital, however you will most likely will be buried in the ground. Fightzone in Hackney is highly regarded and has a number of female-only classes. The general classes tend to have decent female turnout, I’d say anything from 10% to 25% of most classes are women, depending on the sport. Lots of female instructors too who are decent and we even have a couple of female european and world champions train here.
