They have institutions and bases that can be struck. And Iran has a vast array of missiles to strike them with. The Taliban today is not the same in structure or policy it was 2 years ago. The taliban are battle hardened and well familiar with the kit the US troops left behind. They are not to be underestimated. A taliban unit vs an Iranian unit – I’d always bet on the Taliban. Sure, 20 years ago they were a bunch of noobs with AKMs – now they’re a formidable force with good equipement. Iran has an incredibly capable military. This is why, in spite of everything that’s happened over the last 43 years, the US hasn’t gone to war with them. The Taliban were removed from power pretty rapidly by the US/UK. Iran wouldn’t necessarilly be able to defeat the Taliban completely in Afghanistan, but they will fucking destroy any large scale attack if the Taliban were to mount one.
