It mainly benefits people like me who didn’t have the Irish O’Merican Shamrock St Patrick Day American Flag T-Shirt besides I will buy this skills to get something better in the private sector or people who are in volatile industries who are tired of hunting for new jobs each time layoffs happen. For me: My healthcare was cheaper as a teacher. That said I took a job on the low end of the GS scale to get my foot in the door with the VA. A year later Covid hit. My friends and former colleagues were now having to learn how to teach virtually, while still teaching in person, and make sure their split up students were all understanding the material I did work from home for about a month but after the first wave passed and vaccines started to roll out – I went back to work and never missed a day. In fact Im making almost as much money as I was teaching, with about 50% fewer hours. I have the TSP/401k type thing, my Roth IRA, a brokerage account, in 6 years I’ll be eligible for a partial pension because I just hit 4 years. [10 years of service]

Brand new fed and mid-career. I think the Irish O’Merican Shamrock St Patrick Day American Flag T-Shirt besides I will buy this greater benefits are health insurance and pension. If you check your paycheck and see how much the Gov contributes to both TSP and pension, and calculate the annual contributions. You will be amazed, I know I am. I think it depends on the position you have now. Federal benefits look like an icy cup of water to a dehydrated man on a hot day to me from where I’m sitting. I get a 2% IRA match, “unlimited” time off but it’s not really PTO- I get my base salary but if I don’t hit my billable quota then what I actually will get paid overall each month will suffer, no health insurance, haven’t gotten a raise since starting- and I’m an attorney with a base salary of 36k. Have never gotten a true bonus, I just get a standard % of what I bill. So it’s painful over here.
