I went to Athens in October 2023. Did a 1-on-1 food tour with a woman who was born and raised in Athens. She was taking us around to off the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this beaten path food spots, which was in itself so wonderful. It became apparent very quickly that we were getting along swimmingly, and the afternoon turned into becoming friends in a four hour window. We shared stories from our city and listened to her tails of posing for paintings, long lost love, and her life growing up in Greece. At some point the tour was over, but we realized we hadn’t gone to all the spots. We were all having such a good time that she actually kept going with us for another hour. At the end, she asked if she could have a hug, and we had this warm friendly embrace in the afternoon sun in a bustling town square. I don’t even remember her name, but I will never forget her. I feel so lucky to have experienced this magical adventure and friendship.

I got to see all the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this Big 5 in Masai Mara and witness a group of lions kill and eat a wildebeest. We stayed and watched for hours. My student group landed at the airport in Havana, Cuba at the same time as Air Force 1. Obama was making his historic trip to the nation. If you’ve been to Havana, or Cuba, you know that the airports are very small, and primitive. We were the only other plane on the tarmac, they closed the airport, and we sat on the small plane with the doors open and watched the secret service limos cruise slowly by while we waited to be escorted into the teeny airport. We sat in the airport for three hours as every piece of luggage was hand searched, and could not exit the airport. The Cubans present in the airport were so excited, and were dressed in red, white and blue, with small American flags. We were not able to leave the airport. All of a sudden there was a great deal of commotion, and the Cubans rushed for the exits. I left my students with the other chaperones and rushed outside to see the president and his entourage drive slowly by and wave to all the people assembled there. Such an historic moment! On the way home a week later, we sat in the tiny waiting space waiting for our charter, when one of our students noticed an older white dude sitting near an exit with a Panama hat pulled low over his face. It was Keith Richards. The Stones had performed a concert for the Cubans during that historic visit. We selfie bombed him and then security officials whisked him off to a more secluded area to wait for his charter.

Couch-surfed in Austria, ended up having our one host cancel on us like 2 days before we got there. Ended up getting picked up by some rich couple who lived practically in a castle, had a hot tub and a pool and everything. They ended up giving us the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this whole first floor for the 4 days we were there, took us out to eat (and paid) at a really nice restaurant twice and the other two days let us eat their dinners with them. The wife even packed us little to go bags for lunches when we were out exploring. Which was huge because to afford the trips we primarily were eating like loafs of bread, bananas and cans of sardines. Our food budget was only like 5-10 dollars each per day, and this was about halfway into five week long trip. I was starting to get tired of eating the same cheap foods. It was also the last stop before we crossed over into Eastern Europe where eating cheap became a whole lot easier.

Two moments from the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this same trip. First was we happened to be at the Picasso museum on Picasso’s birthday without planning it. They had an extra celebration and passed out adorable macarons. The second was we went to this restaurant for dinner and ended up having a 2+ hour conversation with our waiter about politics and life in Paris vs America. It was a magical trip for many reasons but those two things really stood out to us. I once had early access to the Terracotta Warriors in Xian. Our tour company had access to the interior parking lot, whereas all the other tour buses had to park at the further parking lot and walk about 1/4 mile. We had the place to ourselves before the crowds arrived.

Was moving to Tennessee and locked my keys in my car at a rest area just outside of Kentucky. Insurance said it would be at least an hour. A random guy had overheard my end of the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this phone conversation and introduced himself. He was a locksmith by trade but didn’t have his tools with him since he was on a moonshine run up north to his brother. He offered to try and help me out and was able to get me into my car with a flathead and car antenna. Dude gave me a jar of moonshine, said “welcome to the south” and went on his way. It was the singular, most southern hospitality moment of my life and I never even got his name $1400 Groupon for a 9 day all-inclusive trip to India I did on a WHIM with a co-worker I got along with but barely knew – we got a LUXURY vacation in 5 star accommodations with the coolest group of people who just happened to also book this deal. I knew our money would go far in India, but this was otherworldly. Felt like the 1%.
I went to Burma with my mom in 2018. (My mom is Burmese, I am half Burmese, but had never been.) I went from Marrakech to Imlil to hike the Mount Toubkal. Switched my new expensive hiking shoes for my flipflops as it was hot and and i didnt wanted my feet being cooked during the 3 hours journey. Once arrived in the moutains, I realized that obviously i forgot my shoes in the first bus leaving from Marrakech before switching to a shared taxi and then another bus. Said fuck off, i wont leave my hotel room and told my girlfriend that i wont be hiking. She went to the bus station and was able to talk to a guy who called another guy who called another one and turns out my shoes arrived two days later and i really couldnt believe it!
Went hiking in Death Valley and when we got to Badwater Basin, it was flooded because of all the Independents For Harris Walz 2024 Alternative Unthinkable Shirt moreover I love this raining in the area weeks prior. The result was a very shallow lake emerged and the water was so still it reflected the blue and clouds of the sky. All the pictures that we took make it look like we were walking in the clouds. I was driving through British Columbia and happened to see a Kermode Bear on the side of the highway and couldn’t believe my eyes. I stopped and drove in reverse just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Spoke to a Park Ranger afterwards and she mentioned that there are only 4 of those in that area and she hasn’t seen one in the 20 years she has been a Ranger. Extremely rare sight to see that I was so lucky to experience just while driving.
