Why do people say stupid shit like this, like you dictate the only “possible” outcomes of a situation in the most confidently incorrect tone, makes you come off as such a dumbass A lot of robbers use guns to scare people into submission and don’t intend to use them. Even when armed they’re too cowardly to follow through when someone fights back. Of course that still doesn’t mean you should risk it or they should have any leniency, but it’s why you see stuff like this where robbers run at the first sign of resistance. It’s also with precedent in nature. Predators are very much aware that every fight could cost them a permanent crippling injury or outright death. As such, if prey turns out to be more capable of resistance than expected, many will simply run away rather than take an unnecessary risk, unless they are desperate. Likewise, robbers are not all complete idiots (citation needed /s). The ones out for a buck recognize they won’t be spending that buck if their skull is in half a dozen pieces on the pavement.

The police investigate, and try to find a wallet, which is unlikely and not many resources will be put into it. It’s a wallet and lost money, it’s very hard to track those.
