With that said, as a man I definitely can’t treat women exactly the In Memory Of Lemmy 1995-2015 The Man The Myth The Legend Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same as men. Not without being an asshole. Walking alone in the dark, if I come across a man walking in the same direction, I’ll stay aware of where he is in case he tries to jump me but otherwise won’t change my walking speed, but if I come across a woman, I will have to either stop and let her put distance between us so she knows I’m not following her, or if I’m in a hurry I’ll have to speed up and say something like “passing on your left” while keeping my distance as much as possible so she knows I’m not trying to sneak up on her. If I see a work friend that’s looking tired, if they’re a man I can say “wow, you look like shit! Baby not sleeping?” and generally ask how they’re doing to make sure they’re ok. If they’re a woman, I had better not mention that she’s looking tired (even if I’m really worried about her!) lest I come off as policing her looks.

But on the In Memory Of Lemmy 1995-2015 The Man The Myth The Legend Shirt Apart from…,I will love this other hand, our society’s gendering of non-gendered things has been out of control for a long time. Why are drinks gendered?* Scents? Colors? It’s madness. *And for that matter, plenty of “fruity girly drinks” have way more alcohol than “manly man drinks” unless you’re drinking straight liquor. Yet apparently only wimpy men order them. (Luckily, I don’t care what other people think about what I drink; I’ll drink a girly drink if I want to.) Honest question. I read a lot of Redditors sat how stressful guys feel it is trying to make women feel safe in random situations. But also that men kill and injure other men more, on average. Are guys not wondering “Bro what u doing behind me?” when they can’t see someone approaching or like eyeing up ppl they encounter? Does it not bother guys when other guys wonder if they’re threats? Or only when women size them up? I’d be more scared of the one who is more likely to have a gun, I think, than the one who might annoy me or hurt my feelings.

Star wars master yoda shirt When you’re walking alone on a dark road and you come upon another guy you don’t know, if each of you views the In Memory Of Lemmy 1995-2015 The Man The Myth The Legend Shirt Apart from…,I will love this other as a potential threat, that means you’re both (relatively) safe. Since each of us knows that even if we won a fight with the other, we’d probably get seriously injured in the process, nobody is going to start shit. (If there was even a reason to start shit.) Also, if the other guy is acting shady, or if it looks like several threatening guys are together, then you bet I’m going to be wary.* (And maybe they have a knife or a gun, and they’re going to mug me. In that case, I give them my wallet and walk away with my life. It sucks, but it’s better than dying.) But why would I want to come off as threatening to a woman? Let alone a woman who’s alone in the dark? What’s the point? It won’t make me any safer, it will make her uncomfortable at best, and it will make me feel like a creep (because it’s creepy). Also, and maybe this is more to the point, when I come across a random dude at night, neither of us is worried the other is going to rape us. But when a woman is scared of me in the same situation, that’s probably her first thought. Despite that, I’ve never raped anyone, and I never will rape anyone, and if I came across a rape in progress, I’d do what I could to stop it. Even so, I don’t begrudge a woman for not knowing that about me–how could she? She can’t read my mind!–and I don’t begrudge her for doing what it takes to make herself feel safe, because there are bad guys out there who would rape her given the chance, but at the same time that doesn’t make it hurt any less every time I’m reminded that–through no fault of my own–half of society sees me as a barely restrained animal, a half-civilized beast who could commit sexual violence at any moment.
