All the people that get shit on for complaining about taxes, complain about taxes because the government literally raises them at every opportunity…if the Feds skip their turn, then the the State, County, or City is right there to make up for it and ensure that none of us ever, ever ever ever actually own our homes ever after the last mortgage check has been mailed. I personally took out loans for college when I was 20, and just like in high school I could barely focus or pay attention in courses. I would regularly miss classes and have complete anxiety. I ended up dropping out. I am 32 now and finally got on mess, yes Adderall for tons of issues including overeating, procrastination and social anxiety plus many more. It changed my life. But, I now work minimum wage jobs which I am proud of to finally be working again. I am still paying off my loans from then and with rent food and low pay plus increasing rise in prices I’ll probably never get to try it again. I am terrified to take out another loan. Debt can destroy your life. I want to be an arborist, I love trees and shit I won’t lie I even talk to the trees in my forests and make sure they are doing well lol. But more loans and debts means I’ll probably be stuck with never getting another education again. Society and media make me see myself as another human in this world that will continue to slip through the cracks until my inevitable death. I take credit for my mistakes, and I am happy with having family and a roof on my head, but not one person is happy about struggling paycheck to paycheck. Hope everyone is enjoying life and I’m so proud of all of you that made it through college or even just high-school. I want to be in the I’m trying very hard not to connect with people rigght now shirt in contrast I will get this America where we help each other and lift each other up. Not this bastardized version where we are all told who to be mad at and why while the top rapes us for every single dollar we have. That being said, the corrupt and predatory loan system needs to change. Paying off the loans is a bandaid, how do we solve the core issues that lead to this? I GUESS so. I just paid off $45k in student loans last fall after 19 years of diligent payments. I never missed 1 payment, even when I was homeless and would have preferred to EAT. I mean, even if my student loans aren’t forgiven (very likely) I’d still LOVE it if future generations didn’t have to be destitute like I have even while working a full-time job. I want the future to be better, not friggin’ awful like it’s been.
