As a non-loan-haver with credit card debt and a degree, I’m all for it. That said, I chose my school because it was local and cheap but my ACT score would have gotten me into all sorts of stuff if I’d taken loans. What’s the I’m Not Your Breakfast Taco T-Shirt Besides,I will do this story there? Are we going to make the schools with better connections cheaper? I have 30k+ left in loans. They are private and refinanced. I will not benefit from this at all and that’s okay. I am all for cancelling the loans that are able to be cancelled. I’m all for addressing the result of the problem (student debt) when you first address the root of the problem (poor high school advising, poor high school financial education, predatory lending, skyrocketing educational costs, etc.) Until then, fuck off. Throwing money at an unsolved issue isn’t effective. AOC please take that advice into account when you decide next time if its worth getting your hands dirty to force a vote on medicare for all. 🙂

I have no problem with the I’m Not Your Breakfast Taco T-Shirt Besides,I will do this idea of forgiving student loans as a concept. but to do so with no other reform to the ecosystem means just kicking the can down the road. what do we say when the next generation accrues even bigger loans on aggregate? do continuously forgive loans would jsut be a big taxpayer funded giveaway to private institutions which I for one would not be ok with at all. I just don’t know what happens after this. Do we forgive loans again in a few years? It just seems like a band-aid rather than a fixable solution. Essentially, this is Millennials getting money over Gen Z and Gen X. You don’t get any money if you already paid off your loans and you don’t get anything if you are currently in college or about to be. If you look at the demographics, it makes sense politically. Boomers are still #1, but Millennials are #2 over Gen X and Gen Z. Millennials will become the dominate political force as Boomers die.
