Grew up in a Catholic home. Church on Sundays. Only played with boy toys. Played basketball throughout middle and highschool. In fact, while growing up and attending Catholic church I always had to hear about Priests touching little boys. I am bisexual. 90% of family is conservative. Grew up in a conservative value household. Raised Christian and went to church as a kid. Grew up always being introduced to “straight kid stuff”. Football, baseball, cub scouts, classic rock, skating. Never knew what pride was. Never read a single book that says something as simple as “gay people are ok”. I woulda realized I was Bi and accepted that waaaay earlier on instead of internally suppressing it till I was nearly 30. Not gay. Fine with people who are… Frankly I don’t care who has sex with who. I don’t think of a hetero couple fucking when I meet them and don’t when I meet any other couple. Yes a million times. My brother is dead because he could never come out of his closet, because folks could never allow him to be who he was. He is dead. And honestly the I’m not just a grandma big cup of wonderful splash of sassy shirt and I love this only way bigotry gets addressed is by a homophobic person meeting an LGBT person in RL and seeing their humanity. Not a post on the internet (and no I am not advocating for people being in dangerous situations, I’m talking about just normal interactions)
