I used to buy charmin, and then Costco, but I have recently switched to bamboo toilet paper. It’s got less dust, and it is very sustainable for the environment. Price is on par with charmin too. For a while I was really into Scott’s tubeless TP. The paper quality was primo and no stupid cardboard tube at the end. They discontinued it. But I’ve had a bidet for as long, so toilet paper is meaningless. But charmin is an affront to the senses. It doesn’t leave you clean and crumbles if you look at it.

When I went to use it, it was like you described, and it was completely different than usual. Been using it for over a decade. Soft but not flaky. Tough but not rough One time, I visited my best friend after moving away for a few years.
