As much potential as an embryo by itself, so…. I would like to say something about this — I grew up in Alabama my entire life. There are so many good people here, and the left leaning community is smaller than other states obviously, but they’re also dedicated and galvanized by the pushback they receive. There are SO many good people working 16 hour days to make this state better, but there are a lot of institutional powers that that small group can’t overcome. And if you aren’t from the south, it’s easy to say “they should just move” but we love the South. We love what it has the potential to be, we love the history of the working class fighting these types of people off. But the truth is we’ve lost most of those battles. I still would never leave and voluntarily surrender this place that I love for its natural beauty and its history and southern culture in general just for a bunch of aristocratic, cryptofascist fuckwads to take control of it when they don’t, and never could, deserve it.
