In the long trip down to Louisiana, told here, the lobsters got so starved, they shrank down to crawdad size. Grew up in Wisconsin and my grandpa and dad would host huge fish boils. Crayfish were a staple and my favorite! People round here usually call them Crayfish but Crawdads is pretty common as well. As a kid it was one of my responsibilities to fill a couple 5 gallon pails full of the tasty little buggers. Miss those fish boils. Egypt grows maybe the most now, but they’re frozen to be shipped. Louisiana still makes some money selling and shipping the fresh during season. “Crayfish” says the person who lives where they don’t exist… They are called “Crawdads”. Also fun fact, they are not fish…

Lots of pissed of folks in the I’m A November Girl Not A One In A Million Kind Of Girl Black Women T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this North East who saw them on a menu once and think they eat enough to warrant their own vernacular… We call them crawfish in MD too, and we do actually have them around. That being said, I’ve heard them called crayfish as well. they have snails all over the world too but are you going to tell the French what they are called in regards to cuisine? You’re going to sit there and tell me that it’s easier to peel crab than it is to peel crawfish? You out your mind man. Especially king crab, every time I’ve eaten it, it looks like some kind of crab massacre has happened with pieces of shell all over the place. They’ve also got those sharp spikes on the legs that can gash you if you slip while trying to cut them open. If you know how to peel crab correctly I will say that it is a delight to eat. I however am not blessed with that ability nor do I have the money to learn that ability. I have a friend who years ago was a real screw up when he was young. He fouled up so bad in school that they finally kicked him ou. At this point his parents didn’t have a whole lot of choice. They didn’t want to send him to one of those idiot reeducation camps because that’s not what he needed. But what they did was they forced him to get a job and they made him get a job that really required work, and wasn’t the most pleasant occupation.
