Right? I was a tomboy. I refused to wear dresses, hated dolls, hated pink, rode horses, hung out with boys. If I was a kid now, people would be convinced I was trans. No, no one would think you were trans unless you said “I think I’m a boy.” It is completely false to act like people think a kid is trans immediately. People literally asked me if I was trying to be a boy 32 years ago, well before anything about trans was well known or in people’s minds. People see behaviors and ask questions (that are often none of their business) about it. There actually was a trans person in my family, but it was the I’m A Hairstylist Could Tell You Stories That Would Your Hair T-Shirt but in fact I love this family scandal (he’d be in his 60s now if he’s still alive), and I didn’t meet him til much later, I think I was already an adult and it was very brief and I didn’t know who he was til later, but I was aware of him so I did know that it was possible to change gender, although I had no idea WHY one would choose to do that.

Follow up to OP’s question I have no clue as I’m a cis white male but is there a scenario where a kid gets these hormone treatments and puberty blockers at say age 14 and then a few years later is like “Nevermind I want to go back/not block my hormones” and that’s no longer possible? Idk how the I’m A Hairstylist Could Tell You Stories That Would Your Hair T-Shirt but in fact I love this process works at all just curious. Gender assignment surgery has been done on infants for a very long time, as many are born ‘intersex’. If anything, there is a push from the liberal community to stop doing this, and let them figure it out later. As for hormone therapy, gender change isn’t done to teens, but puberty blockers are used sometimes, so that kids can have a chance to figure stuff out rather than having their body progress toward a form they do not like. Reuters reported that surgeries, including genital surgeries, are being done on minors according to an analysis of insurance claims.
