And I used to think that there was an important person called The Nation. So whenever adverts said stuff like “the If U Still Hate Trump after This Biden You Commitment Usa Flag T-Shirt moreover I love this nation’s favourite…” I thought they were his/her favourite thing. There was once a competition on Blue Peter called “Entertain the Nation” and I didn’t get why they were the only one that got to pick the winner. I think I imagined them as kinda like the local mayor but for the whole country, important but not as much as the queen or prime minister. I always wondered why I’d never seen this person in my life yet. I thought Gerry Adams was called Sinn Fein. I’ve since found out that a couple of other people shared this thought. When I was little I heard the phrase “it’ll be better in the long run”, and thought that the long run was some sort of competition or event where everyone had to run around for ages. I’d never seen or heard of a marathon so I always imagined everyone I knew having to run around my school hall for as long as they could.

I thought cash machines just… gave you money, didn’t realise it deducted it from your balance. I was so confused as to why my Dad bothered working when he could just go to the If U Still Hate Trump after This Biden You Commitment Usa Flag T-Shirt moreover I love this wall and get a tenner out. I used to think that expiry dates were actually just a calendar on your produce, before I knew what months were. Not me, but I had a mate who until the age of 9 thought we lived in America because of the tele he was watching and video games he was playing. That the USA was a democracy. The states may function more as a democracy, but federally, we are not in any way a democracy. Once I understood the workings of the Electoral College and Senate, I realized it was not a true democracy. That was shattering. It’s was set up to allow a racist minority of states to over rule a majority back when slave owners were terrified of eventually giving slaves a full and equal vote. I used to think the system was fair, untill I read the fine print. Watching the federal government at work, I realized it was a huge problem, and will likely be the end of the USA. Not using the popular vote for federal elections is problematic. Tiny states shouldn’t be able to control the outcome in national elections, and they can totally strongarm the Senate. States with total population less than a major US city have equal powern ith states that have millions of residents. My year 4 teacher – in assembly – taught us the importance of not pulling a silly face. She gave a whole story about an ex-pupil who’d done it, the wind changed, and his face had stuck, and how he regretted it and wished he’d listened to her.
