I recently ended a relationship where my ex was convinced I was cheating. I let a past ex slide and was ok she had a guy best friend. They ended up fucking and she kept it from me for years. Found out at broke up immediately. I don’t know whether this reflects more on me or her.

Yeah. I know it’s unhealthy to think, but I worry this I’d Rather Be Watching Blue Bloods shirt and by the same token and will be a shadow in my future relationships. Hopefully time will heal. Will a therapist be able to expand my understanding past what I’m already aware of? I already know it’s unfair and why. I had bad experiences with psych related healthcare from how they treated me as a child, I trust them less than a girlfriend with a male best friend, unfortunately. No, they likely wouldn’t expand your understanding but would give you a safe place to process and maybe tools for future relationships. Based on your experience though, I can see why you would not be comfortable.
