Jk… that wasn’t the I Wear Gold For Childhood Cancer Awareness Warriors Rainbow T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this reason …. there were other reasons…. But it’s been nice to not have to sleep with that damn fan on…. In all honestly just ask her what bothers her about it, like does it make her cold? Or does the sound bother her? Figure what your needs are, and what her needs are for sleeping… and see if you can’t find a suitable compromise. Like if your main concern is the overheating, maybe consider running the AC instead of a fan, and she can have lots of covers to stay warm, or maybe a cooling mat of cooling pillow? They even make cool comforters… and stuff…. Could be worth looking into! You told her ahead of time this was what to expect right? She made a choice knowing that about you. Then she didn’t like said choice. Then asked you to change yourself (a years-long practice of yours) because she didn’t like it after a few days? And then body shamed you, in YOUR bed, when you didn’t immediately do it?! Her saying, “If you lost some damn weight you wouldn’t need the fan” is fat-shaming you and is emotionally abusive. She sounds controlling and it sounds like she has rigid expectations about relationships. For example, she thinks it’s important to sleep in the same bed, even if one of you is uncomfortable. Not sure this is a healthy relationship.

Something like a quarter of married couples (including my wife and myself) sleep apart because they’re just not compatible sleepers. There’s nothing odd about that. I run hot, she runs cold. She likes a soft bed, I like to sleep on a futon on the I Wear Gold For Childhood Cancer Awareness Warriors Rainbow T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this floor. There’s plenty of time for cuddling (etc.) when you’re awake. Why not do a little box fan aimed directly at you rather than an overhead fan? This aims the air at you so your GF doesn’t have to feel it. “First off, don’t talk to me like that. Secondly, you can’t be bothered by the fan if you’re not near it…figure it out.” Because there are potential compromises. A quieter fan, moving it so it doesn’t blow on her, or getting a half blanket so she can stay warmer for instance. Is air conditioning a possibility?
