For clothes, I usually go for Akris (Office looks), White + Warren (comfy look) Vince (casual; there’s always a sale at Nordstrom) and Max Mara for coats/outerwear, Chloe for accessories I get higher end quality classic pieces at consignment and thrift shops. Why spend big bucks on a cashmere sweater when you can get it for under $20? I have thrifted many of these brands (Max Mara, Prada and Miu Miu–no labels, Vince, Theory and more) in pristine condition. Not for $20, but for a fraction of retail. I live like a 3 minute walk from one and it has options, but it’s a lot of Walmart, Shein, and Lularoe. Likewise I work next to a Goodwill and it + the local ones tend to sell Walmart clothes at about the same I could get it new.

I really miss thrifting. It was one of my favorite things to do. What brands to suggest really depends on what your style is? There are so many good quality brands out there atm I’d honestly browses a website/store (i.e. SSENSE, Net A Porter, DSMNY) for styling inspo and make note of the brands you like. Then I’d wait until sale season or look on second hand websites (The RealReal, Grailed) because these “luxury” clothing brands that have little to no branding tend to go deep on discount since they’re not as flashy as other pieces. In the beginning it may be hard to tell from a product page why this one “normal” piece costs so much but once you get them in hand it will start making sense. The MSRP is still absurd but prices are tolerable on sale lol. Good luck! I like to go thrifting and look up brands of things I might like as I shop. Thrifting has become a lot more popular, and lots of small “boutique” consignment shops have popped up in my city in the last few years. This way, I can find brands I like without investing huge amounts of money immediately. If I really like something I’ll go and buy some new pieces from that brand!
