You can actually watch an interesting youtube series about a card counter. It is literally on camera being threatened. We are going to need to define threatened. Threatened to be flat bet? Banned from blackjack? Banned from the I Realize That We’re Not Biologically Related Poop shirt and by the same token and casino? Threatened physical harm? If a casino employee threatens you with violence that is a video the state gaming commission would love to see. When you get kicked out, do they have to pay you whatever is owed up to that point or do they consider it “illegitimate” and basically steal your money? Although I read a story about some people who may have found a bug in some slot machines or one of those electronic poker/bj machines that have a bunch of games. I can’t remember the details but playing certain games or bets or switching from one game to the other triggers it. I guess they hit up several casinos winning thousands of dollars. I guess that was illegal. I still kind of think that is bs, it’s not like they were tampering with the machine. I guess the bug involved inserting cash cashing out , changing games , repeating it , without actually playing and it would trigger a jackpot It’s called “backing off” and it usually isn’t just being kicked out. You might be given specific betting limits to mitigate the advantage of counting or such. But the way the casino views it is that they no longer want to take your bets. Which, yeah, they’re only doing it to keep an advantage, but it makes a certain amount of sense.

I can’t even remember how many cards are in a deck, improbable I could count and memorize that much in card games, domino, bingo, bad in anything that implies memorizing number. Some casinos even have a blackjack table or two where counting is tacitly encouraged. They only use a couple of decks so it’s not impossible to count like a multi-deck game or continuous shuffle. But the rules are slightly more in the house’s favor (blackjack pays 6:5, dealer hits soft 17), and the game goes slow as they have to shuffle every couple of hands. They know you’re counting, but most people can’t do it well and it’s a small percentage of the active tables so it doesn’t really cost them. I’ve been backed off many times. Some would just back me off of double deck, some from blackjack totally. Others knew I was counting and didn’t care.
