The reality is the I May Live In Kansas But On Game Day My Heart & Soul Belong To Arizona Wildcats shirt But I will love this probably won’t match so you should be ready to walk out the door. It’s also a reality that it costs a lot to hire and train an employee up to competent, usually high four figure to low five figures for even low specialization positions. If they are smart they will take that into consideration it most places won’t. This is a very common problem. The market rate changes a lot faster and in bigger increments compared to the annual increases a company will pay its existing employees, that is why you’ll find companies paying new hires a lot more than existing employees otherwise they won’t be able to stay competitive. To counter this, you need to stick your head out every once in a while to get a feel of what the current market pays for someone with your qualifications and move companies if the delta is too large and your current company won’t fix it.

I was at a FAANG company for 5 years and I learned that new hires with less years of experience were offered 50% more than what I was making. I ended up moving companies and was able to almost triple my pay (got a promotion with it as well). It goes without saying that if you do decide to move companies, then DON’T SHARE YOUR CURRENT SALARY since you’re already underpaid compared to the I May Live In Kansas But On Game Day My Heart & Soul Belong To Arizona Wildcats shirt But I will love this market and you’ll be offered a measly increase based on your existing salary (JP Morgan tried to pull this crap on me). The right thing to do is to know what the CURRENT market pays for someone with your qualifications and use that as your starting point. Good luck. Hold up you said the magic word. Seasonal. Is this guy contracted or full time? Contracted employees earn more per hour because they get worse or in some cases no benefits typically.
