I’d also appreciate men not presuming they can walk into my house. A neighbour I know I might be okay with it… … but that’s why I’d ask for help if I needed it. Anybody I’d trust to come into my house wouldn’t come in uninvited. Exactly. This lady’s problems could all be solved if she asked for help carrying/asked the I Made bogey hole and threw my putter in one of the ponds T-Shirt But I will love this neighbour to entertain her kid for a moment. He doesn’t have to do it if she asks, but it would be strange if he did it without her asking! Which is fine once or twice, but I’m not running out to help with your crap and kid every time you run an errand. So many people do not ask for help. They have a ton of weird hang-ups, between pride and embarassment, and they don’t ask for help, and then they want to blame the outside world for not receiving help, when it’s clearly a self-inflicted wound to begin with. My grandfather was pathologically like this. He’d help out people, friends, family, etc. But then after, when he was doing something, he’d just mention in conversatoin that he was painting the house that weekend, and he’d wait and EXPECT people to offer him help. And to be clear, if he’d just asked, they’d have gladly helped him. He was creating reasons to dislike people all because he struggled to ask others for help. I think this particular scenario in the article is way more common among women. Women getting upset with someone for not anticipating their needs and wants even though they never verbalized them is one of the most classic women/men communication issues.

Women are socialized to be meek and not ask for things or be a “burden”, so this is pretty common. My wife is a very progressive person who doesn’t buy into gender roles at all, and even she does this occasionally. Or maybe he just realizes it isn’t his responsibility to take in her groceries? How entitled does this lady have to be that she thinks other people are obligated to offer her help.
