You didn’t learn that in 2010 when dropped out of Ironman 2 because he thought he should be the I Know I Play Like A Girl Try Keep Up Volleyball T-Shirt in contrast I will get this highest paid in the movie? Left the Marvel money behind because he was an idiot then too Honestly, I m glad he did. Cheadle’s innate air of sarcasm makes his version of the character more believable as a close friend of Tony Stark. Howard is clearly an idiot and a nut but I always preferred his Rhodes over Cheadle’s. People say Howard’s version was too angry, but to me that worked. He was always exasperated by Tony’s…Tony-ness, but ultimately always had his back. When he runs out of the helicopter in Iron Man to save Tony after he’s escaped into the desert and Tony lays his head on him in exhaustion and relieved gratitude you can totally tell these dudes love each other. It was sweet. I never had any trouble believing Rhodes and Tony were longtime friends. I love Don Cheadle in everything but the Marvel movies. He’s bland and flat, though I blame that mostly on the material he’s given. Howard would’ve suffered in that role too.

I dunno. Tony Stark was a bonafide playboy borderline sexist in the I Know I Play Like A Girl Try Keep Up Volleyball T-Shirt in contrast I will get this first movie. That vibe matched a lot better with Terrance Howard than Don Cheedle. Stuff from Ironman 1 and 2 could never be released by Disney today. Like the stripclub plane scene, the “I want one” comment, and the drunken rampage scene. Like he was in Iron Man? He dropped out because they only offered him $1M after originally promising $8M after making $3.5-4.5M in the first one. He might be the idiot king, but name another actor that would take that kind of a pay cut after a movie was successful. Keanu Reeves also doesn’t have to really act in his movies. He does stunts. He gets a list credits and pay for being a stunt man who talks really slow Yeah, he should be shit on for the wacky math and a history of other pseudoscience bullshit, but asking for a pay raise for a sequel to a hugely popular movie isn’t really dumb unless you are sure the studio is just going to recast you.
