It’s probably more about ethnicity/heritage. Because “white culture” is not a culture. I’m a WASP my culture is incredibly different from that of my culturally Catholic husband. “White” is not a coherent group. The only reason “black culture” is a thing is because that is a culture born of a specific cultural origin (slavery). White isn’t a cultural group. Just as you wouldn’t say “European culture” because there are different European nations and regions, each with their own unique culture, you wouldn’t say “White culture” in the US because while there are similarities between a bunch of white 20 somethings in Seattle and a bunch of white people in their 70’s in Alabama, to say they’re the same culture is to gloss over a LOT of really important differences. Hell, even for 20’s somethings in Seattle, if you had a group of MAGA “Young Republicans” and a group of left leaning Democrats, how much culture can you really say they have in common?

No one says they don’t have a culture. Because white American is not a homogeneous group with a singular culture. There’s midwestern, southern, Appalachian, coastal, ect. The United States is too big for “white American culture” to be one thing. It’s more like East Coast culture, Midwest culture, West Coast culture, etc. As a ‘white’ person I identify mainly with my Italian heritage rather than some sort of ‘white’ culture. I imagine most people are the same. I used to have this point of view, until I became American myself. I realized that the USA has culturally colonized the whole world to the point that the culture’s spread over the world and ubiquity makes it virtually invisible. Well…my culture is white trash Nascar, bikers, adultery, religious extremism, and a healthy dose of pills/meth. I’ll stick to claiming no culture and claim my only relative was my irish traveler great grandmother Bonnie who took a knife to the side at the circus. Because they’re basically “mutts” so they’re a mix of a bunch of stuff so since they’re so many things at once they don’t follow one so they’re just “American” whereas for example in my family all 4 of my grandparents are Greek and 3 were born there so my family directly traces our roots somewhere whereas my dads friend is like Irish Italian British etc all mixed together so he doesn’t really have one particular culture. Whatever, wherever or whomever has tried to convince you of this is toxic and you need to run. you are likely being indoctrinated by some very self serving people. This question is general and full of assumptions that are not true or so general as to be completely useless for a meaningful discussion.
