On some issues one side is right and the I Do Not Have Gray Hair Wolf Have Wisdom Highlights shirt and by the same token and other is wrong, and on some issues no compromise can exist between the two sides. As someone who is considered left of center in the US currently, I don’t have a problem with actual centrist views. The issue is that is being used to insist we “listen to both sides” when the “conservative” side is not fiscally conservative (will spend trillions on tax breaks for the rich) and it’s “small” government will decide what kind of healthcare women and trans folk can have instead of patients and their doctors. Can’t be neutral on a moving train, see “Overton Window”. Centrism comes across to many as being so avoidant of offending any side that they forgo having values of their own and just picking the mean of any issue because it is in the middle. In a word it’s spineless. The middle is constantly shifting too. 40 years ago the middle was a lot further left. Today’s liberal democrats are more or less yesterday’s republicans economically speaking. Some issues require strong stances as well, sometimes the choice is binary. For example, a woman’s right for bodily autonomy. They either have the right or they don’t. You would understandably piss people off if you told your gay friend that you think they should be allowed to get married but having media representation goes to far.

I Do Not Have Gray Hair Wolf Have Wisdom Highlights shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

This is not to say you have to be far left or far right, the I Do Not Have Gray Hair Wolf Have Wisdom Highlights shirt and by the same token and answer is never that easy. Issues are complicated and nuanced and different perspectives bring value to the table. The issue is that you need to think for yourself and work through individual issues for yourself instead of identifying with a vague notion of middleness that is ultimately meaningless. Centrism always rewards conservatives and the status quo in the US political system. You don’t have to be a Tankie but if you want change, and things to improve, you can’t be a centrist. Manchin is a centrist and he fvcked up so much of Biden’s legislation. He removed the child tax credit rules for example that threw millions of kids back into poverty. He refuses to get off fossil fuels because he’s in a coal producing state. He won’t change the Senate filibuster rules because he likes the status quo. He’s more attached to bipartisanship than he is to improving govt or people’s lives.
