I don’t know what “website development” entails for you but for many people who do that as a job (myself included) with 8 years of experience you should be making well into the I Am Simple Man Las Vegas Raiders Shirt Also,I will get this six figures. Hell I’ve met guys that can barely code with high paying software engineer jobs. If you’re in the US then your boss is absolutely fleecing you, you’re getting a hair above McDonalds pay for a much more specialized skill set. Time to start applying yesterday regardless of what your co-worker makes. You mentioned you love your job. You can do what I did just last month. I discovered a new employee was hired, making more than me too. I applied for several jobs in my area in the field of my expertise. Went on half a dozen interviews and after a month was offered a higher paying job. Coincidentally at my bosses rival office. I couldn’t have planned it better. I called my boss on Friday afternoon. I was offered the job to give her my 2 weeks’ notice starting that Monday. She was shocked. I told her exactly why. This new doctor had told me he wouldn’t pay new hires more or as much as his loyal staff. She told me not to jump in the pool just yet. A few hours later, she called and offered me more money than my current job offer and agreed to pay me a raise above the market rate increases. I informed her I would be monitoring the average start pay of my position and expected annual pay raises above the starting wages. Like you, I love my job. But you’ve got to earn what you’re worth, and if they won’t pay you that, you’ve got to see all your options. I went through all this trouble because I wasn’t afraid to walk away for fair wages. But it really worked out in my favor. I hope it continues to and does for you too whether you stay or go. Goodluck!

8 years is too long to stay at one place. You should be trying to find a new job every 2-3 years to increase your salary. Every time this question pops up, most people just tell you to leave. Im not sure if this is an American thing. Unless you dislike your current job, Id ask for a performance review with the I Am Simple Man Las Vegas Raiders Shirt Also,I will get this manager in which you stay factual and ask for a fair pay increase. If this is ignored, start applying elsewhere. But even if you get a few offers, get back to said manager and ask for another review if you really enjoy the work. That adds a bit more pressure and they might rethink the situation. There is also a point at which job hopping just looks unprofessional on a CV. I know, statistically job hoppers earn more but keep in mind that there are not many other reasons to switch a job other than pay, location and maybe toxicity. A lot are saying to leave and I agree. However let’s force your boss to have the hard conversation first since you love your job. Go in and demand to have your wages be brought to market rate for someone with your title and experience. Since 18.50 seems to be the starter salary I’d ask for 25$ or more. Then quit when you find a new job if they don’t follow through or say maybe next year Take it to your current employer and say what you said above: I like this place, and would stay, but we both want an employee focused on the job and not worrying about his/her compensation.
