Malkin’s 500th goal is not only a testament to his individual brilliance but also to the success of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since joining the team, Malkin has played a pivotal role in the Penguins’ three Stanley Cup victories in 2009, 2016, and 2017. He has been a linemate to legendary players such as Sidney Crosby and Jaromir Jagr, and together they have formed one of the most potent offensive trios in NHL history.
Malkin’s path to 500 goals has been a remarkable one. He was drafted second overall by the Penguins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. After a brief stint in his native Russia, he made his NHL debut in the 2006-07 season.
Malkin quickly established himself as a star player, winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. He has since been selected to 13 All-Star games, won the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player in 2012, and led the NHL in scoring three times.
