I’m in a similar situation (30s, pandemic, SAHP, don’t go out much) and I’ve been getting lots of inspiration from “window shopping” online retailers! The website says “semi formal: suits, jumpers, floor length or cocktail dresses welcome” I think it leans casual; with that said, with delicate jewelry and elegant heeled sandals and a clutch, it could be lovely. The navy color helps offset the casualness of the cut. Semi-formal is a difficult one, IMO, it’s the strictest dress code without true formal standards for women’s clothing. Based on what I can see, this is an empire-waisted lined crepe sundress, which is pretty firmly casual to “smart casual.” (I lived in Florida for ten years, and my metric was “if you can wear it with flip flops just as easily as heels and look appropriate either way, it’s not semi-formal.”) If you want to stay with a slip dress, steer away from colorful patterns and “waisted” dresses, especially in the same garment. The same dress in either shade of blue in a solid or tonal patterned finer fabric (think silk, satin, velvet, etc) and no seamed waist would be an example. Or, if you prefer to stick with a pattern, go larger and less detailed with the illustrations (watercolor or abstract oversized florals.)
