She’s old and doesn’t have time to waste of loading screens. Every second is precious, even more so than for younger people. That’s why! Yep a lot of people really just coast on the I Am A Scientist Astronomy Spaces T-Shirt in addition I really love this first decent job they get. If you’re truly a techy person, you really need to continue learning and tinkering with new things throughout your entire life. Was in the exact same position as you, great work/life, but learned nothing past 2yr into the job (I was in VOIP). I started when I was 24, now I’m 31. Not saying either path is correct, just pick your poison. Work harder / strive to learn more while you have a career, so you can instantly be in demand, get a new job, make the same/more wage as before. OR, coast, like me, have amazing work/life, but be prepared to take a few steps backwards before you go forwards again. The person you’re replying to seems to think a healthy work/life balance and not letting your tech skills stagnate a decade into irrelevance are mutually exclusive, but they aren’t. It ends up costing you more time/money/headache when you wake up 10 years later and have been laid off and don’t have any in demand skills. When I was coming up in tech work in the early 2000s everything was about bare metal infra. Then things pivoted to virtualization. Then they moved to devops, infrastructure as code, and containers.
I Am A Scientist Astronomy Spaces T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
The guys that refused to learn how to code or to understand how cloud services and containers work are the I Am A Scientist Astronomy Spaces T-Shirt in addition I really love this ones with 20 years of experience on paper, but upset they can’t land a job that pays better than a starting salary a fresh graduate would get with no experience. The guys that did learn to code (and the other stuff) are now highly paid, senior SREs and software engineers that work from home and have great work/life balance. Honestly I’ll take 60k for adjusting someone’s display resolution or recycling a citrix server and then playing video games and watching youtube for 7 hours of my 8 hour day over making 6 figures and constantly learning new things. Work life balance couldn’t be better. Maybe I’ll grow up when I’m 30 tho It’s not really about the fun of working with exciting tech, it’s about increasing your income potential so you can do more cool shit in your free time or better support your family
