A large proportion of Repubs now are straight up authoritarians. Power in an authoritarian regime is in a large part derived from the ability to make people believe and subsequently act upon information which they know to be false. It’s part of an attempt to gain sovereignty, and put the authoritarian leader above the current sovereign, which in the US is ostensibly a government of the people. “So here, I just wrote this down today. Hillary wants to raise taxes — it’s a comparison. I want to lower them. Hillary wants to expand regulations, which she does bigly. Can you believe that? I will reduce them very, very substantially, could be as much as 70 to 75 percent. Hillary wants to shut down energy production. I want to expand it. Lower electric bills, folks! Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick –if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day, if — if — Hillary gets to put her judges in.”

Thus the only explanation for his loss is that he was cheated. That’s the whole strategy though, by saying crazy shit ahead of time he normalizes it by giving it time to in a way become something that already happened. So it at least to some degree loses its shock value, for both his supporters and for the rest of us. He does this shit all the time. It seems like something he probably came up with as a spoiled lityle brat 10 year old back when he was starting to form and perfect all if his little manipulation tactics. Either that or someone smarter around him has been making him do it. Either way, it’s definitely not something he does by accident. He was prepping them mentally for it with the narrativr. He planted the seed so when he eventually actually claimed it the idea would be familiar and he could say “adotaso!”
