Id like to see them stand there for several hours on end in that kitchen heat and the ungodly fast food smell at the horrid fast food pace for less than 12 $.69 in 1999 dollars would be $1.19 today. Taco Bell mostly kept its value menu around that price for like 18 years, and recently bumped that by like 100%. Pick any time and place in recent history and any taco, anywhere, should not cost cents. Really, nothing ANY restaurant makes me should cost cents. At that price point the likelihood I’m eating cardboard dust in some new form is highly likely. Fairly certain this exact Taco Bell receipt was already posted in a different post about it being found in a library book. Pretty sure this whole post is made up. Karen furiously types on her 1987 typewriter, which she has kept in pristine condition through the years, to express her concerns on society. Most notably and egregiously is the out of control taco market which has finally caught up with her beloved home-town taco joint. Karen understands the power of a well typed letter as it is THE most respected and advanced form of reputable communication. Confidently, she knows she can make a difference. A real impact. Her loyalty to the home-town taco joint would certainly give her pull in the decision making process. Additionally, her heavy taco spending habits would raise concerns if she cut them off of her support. Her contributions over the years have likely been the key factor in the business’s success! Karen is an excellent typist and linguist, she already knows this. But she needs to drive the point home. What else could she do? Pondering over her typewriter while sipping her BOGO spice latte, it hits her! Frantically, she pulls out the sliding draw of her 1980’s style secretary desk to open her folder of annual receipt books. Her instincts make her reach for the 1985 file, to show a receipt from when the taco joint first opened. But no… Karen let’s a clever smile dance across her face. She opts for the 1999 receipts instead. Taco’s cost 69 cents that year. And Karen knows these youngsters think the number 69 is hip. They will see the cleverness and heed her stern warnings even moreso, knowing that she is part of the hip crowd. A perfect way to ensure her letter is taken seriously and is relatable in the same breath.

Putting the Hug Your Children, love your children T-Shirt in other words I will buy this address on the mailing label, Karen feels a sense of accomplishment in her civic duties. Fighting the small fights matter, especially when no one else is willing to step up to the plate. That thought reminds Karen that there’s still more to be done. She pulls back out her typewriter and begins penning a new letter to her local coffee shop. The BOGO spice latte special should not be taken off the Tuesday menu… I understand the frustration who wouldn’t be upset to find out their tacos price has risen! However the business should not exist if it cannot pay its employees a livable wage with full time hours, end of story full stop. Wonder if goofus here knows they raised the wages because things got more expensive over time, things didn’t get more expensive because they raised wages. Why are the taco slingers the problem and not the CEO, David Gibbs, who makes 1,286 times what the average employee makes. Or the rest of the executive team. If you can’t sell junk food in America, you’re an asshole–they don’t earn that compensation. At least the people working the counter justify it by having to deal with customers like this guy.
