I’m 27, been married door six years and we’ve decided to stay childless. All our friends have young kids and look absolutely miserable all the Houston Texans fall helmet pumpkin shirt in addition I really love this time. I have 2 dogs, that’s all the attitude and doctor(vet) bills I need. Wow married at 21?! I’m almost 20 and never even been on a date Yet I’m really completely with you on the decision though, having kids sounds awful in every way. It’s lowkey my nightmare fuel. There are the sleepless nights and screaming when young, the late-night arguments when older. Maybe I’m just too naive to see the benefits, if there are in fact any, but to be honest, I’ve become more averse to the idea with every year… There are definetly benefits, but having children isn’t for everyone. While I do think I would be a great father, I don’t want to be. I’m selfish, I don’t want to sacrifice myself for children. I enjoy the freedom my wife and I have. Answer to what? What magical answer are you looking for? You just said you don’t want kids, the answer is don’t have them then. It’s not complicated. Some people aren’t meant to be parents, and it’s not a bad thing. None of the people around you that have kids should be trying to sway your opinion, those ones don’t understand being a parent fully yet. I have one kid. I am a parent and I urge you to stand your ground and not be pressured into having kids. It will be the biggest decision of your life and it can go great or terribly terribly wrong. Stick to your guns until YOU decide you want kids. And if you never do, then it’s ok.

This ain’t the Houston Texans fall helmet pumpkin shirt in addition I really love this world our grandparents grew up in. We can’t just ‘do whatever we want.’ Your options are extremely limited and if you want to be a parent who cares for children. Do not birth them into poverty or they will absolutely be ruined. Father of two here. I respect your feelings and decision entirely, and I have many childless friends. Give yourself a pat on the back for being self-aware. 30F here. Yes it absolutely is. I will likely get downvoted to fuck for this, but I genuinely don’t understand why people have kids. I understand it’s an inbuilt evolutionary thing, but we’re so emotionally developed now we can make concious choices to use contraception, so why on earth do people bother? Please feel free to change my mind. I feel like having kids is a societal pressure for many, or just something they’ve been told they have to do from a young age. My mum always told me having kids isn’t the be all and end all of life, so maybe that’s why my opinion differs. But also, I have zero maternal instinct unless it’s something with fur and four legs. I have a partner who has two children and I accept that gracefully. She loves her children, but also agrees and doesn’t actually understand how she ended up with children. She wouldn’t change it but admits in another life, she absolutely wouldn’t bother. I’m just at peace with never having to worry so deeply about another human being because you birthed them, and not having to spend my life attending to this child that i have sole responsibility of turning into a good human with everything else going on around us. Social media is fucking up our kids, there’s paedos everywhere and tbh were all probably gonna end up nuked at some point in the next century so yeah, I just don’t see a point. Also, as you can probably tell. I enjoy being relatively selfish and will continue to do so knowing I never have to spawn something that might end up a devil. Oh and to add, I’m autistic, riddled with childhood trauma and I just don’t think I’d make the best of mothers. And I accept that, rather than pushing through it cause I “must have a baby” as I’m a female. Nah. Do yourself a favour, just get a puppy.
