Think about it, if a parent kicks a child out, that child isn’t going to want to have any kind of relationship with them after that which is going to screw the parent over when they become old and need their children to help take care of them. I moved out at 26 and am moving back in ( to help my parents) at 32. At this point in life it’s not ideal but I do what I can for my family. Its another way for companies to keep people a slave of the work force. Your entire life is made to work, you shouldnt spend any free time on family or bonding. You live for the dollar and die by the dollar- family and togetherness isn’t apart of that agenda. Because once upon a time jobs were plentiful, and kids could leave home and start their own families and afford a house, car and family with a regular job. I still remember how my parents, blue collar workers, sometimes would just move and buy a new house to decorate for the fun of it. Since kids were considered legal adults at 18 and graduating high school no one really saw any reason why an 18-year-old wouldn’t just go out into the world and have that for themselves too. Also keep in mind those who’d had to fight in wars did so at the age of 18, so it sort of ingrained this idea in American culture anyways that 18 one was an adult who could safely leave the nest – and should. Unfortunately that didn’t last but the viewpoint of “got to get out and be independent” did as the previous generations continue to assume the world is just like it was when they were young. And it’s not. I’m older, and I grew up in a very, very different world and time than my own kids.
