This is not counting the police who demand ID or face detention, that is obviously illegal. But can you expect that the government doesn’t collect your social media posts, take pictures of you in public, or track who connects to the public wifi? Then if they do collect it, does putting all of that info into a trackable and searchable database change it into something new and worse? They took this Idea from the federal government who tracked every individual from Operation Wall-Street out of fear of obtaining power and becoming a ‘government’ threat like MLK did. Let’s not forget, MLK may have been assassinated. Speculation that the FBI–or, more probably, members of that organization, including highly placed Bureau officials–might have had a role in the assassination originated in the early 1970’s when the public became aware of COINTELPRO, the Bureau’s counterintelligence program that had Dr. King as one of its targets. When, in 1976, the report on the investigation of the Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities was published and the full scope of the attempt by the FBI to discredit Dr. King became recognized, suspicions were widely rekindled. MLK was assassinated. Whether there was government involvement may be up for debate, but his murder was politically motivated.

So let me see if I understand this…the cops kill someone in cold blood, threaten the crowds that are telling them to stop, so the police respond by creating an illegal surveillance operation on the citizens? Nothing to see here. I literally had armed national guard patrolling my block 5pm to sunrise for two weeks. It was more scary than the riots personally. Yeah, definitely. The guard didn’t scare me but the police following me home from work after curfew once I hit the city limits was terrifying. Thank God I deliver food, my car topper was the only thing that saved me from getting harassed by those thugs because it let them know I was coming home from work and therefore not violating curfew. The police (and public) forget they work for us. We really need to defund and reimagine what public safety looks like.
