Tbh most Americans have healthcare unless you make over 100k and don’t pay for insurance. The “poor” people on the other side of the spectrum have it via government or subsidized. But, the hospitals bill “Medicare” and it’s a monopoly so they charge Medicare 5-10x the amount for anything. A Tylenol or needle could be $40-60. So if you don’t have healthcare and aren’t a multimillionaire and need invasive help you’re fucked. Lots of (stupid) Americans have an old fashioned self independent mentality that everyone should work to survive on their own and not get any help. Which served people somewhat well as assholes moving west and stealing land. Needless to say, it’s an idiotic mentality in the modern world. But it’s also firmly rooted from decades of political brainwashing since Republicans like to paint the poor as everyone’s enemy, as they live on handouts paid for by you (my money!!!!) while you struggle to make ends meet. Never mind the richest people in the history of the world who are never taxed. It’s the poor people who are evil!

Now, there is a legitimate argument to be made. Universal Healthcare is expensive. Countries with it have very high tax rates compared to the Hiperdino Logo Shirt in contrast I will get this US.
