Someone in my class got a new puppy and it ate the Hilary Banks 90s Style T-Shirt moreover I love this corner of her book. She bought it to school with a picture of the dog with bits of paper in its mouth and a sorry note my dog ate my prom contract. and then i got another one. and then covid canceled both my senior and junior proms.. i think he was trying to tell me something It’s actually very believable. Our dog used to love toilet paper rolls, or chewing anything in sight. Not a stretch to think homework would fall victim. He did his study guide that was due the next day. He left it on the kitchen counter and his family went somewhere. Came back and the dog shredded it into pieces. His mom wrote me an email that had the subject “the dog ate (name)‘s homework…really” and explained the situation and that the kid woke up early to try to finish it. I told her to not make him unless he wanted to – he brought me the pieces of the study guide in a ziplock back that morning. He was a super responsible kid who never had missing assignments and his mom was also a teacher. This was absolutely true. The whole thing was hilarious to me. I had to draw boxes for my architecture class. I have a video of my cat licking one of the boxes while I was setting up (the box previously carried greasy fried food, so that’s probably why she liked it). My cat took a bit out of the corner of my homework once. I could see a dog eating the whole thing if you’re not watching or not fast enough.

Any teacher who gets pissed about that “excuse” has probably never had either a pet or a sense of humor. Even if the Hilary Banks 90s Style T-Shirt moreover I love this student’s lying, it’s a pretty funny lie. Classically corny, like doing a Marx Brothers routine in the cafeteria. Since that would require being able to buy something, which I wouldn’t assume everyone could do, I’d also accept hand-drawn pictures of apples. Yes. When I was in 3rd grade I had my math homework tucked into the math book itself. Dog did not harm the book but destroyed the homework itself I had a cat chew the cover of my copy of Midsummer Night’s Dream which I was supposed to be reading for school – I collected the bits to show my teacher! My dog in high school ate a corner of my homework. But he chewed everything. He chewed up my new winter coat, several pairs of shoes, and pretty much anything left lying within his reach. My cat ate my homework once. It was a small weaving sample, she needed surgery to remove it. I sent the scan of her stomach to my instructor as proof. This happened to me when I was in the 7th grade, but my dog didn’t chew it up that bad, it was still readable, mostly just a lot of drool and some bite marks and punctures. I had already finished it, and that was obvious, and got a good laugh from my teacher. Probably more common than you’d think. My dog doesn’t do this anymore but when he was a pup he would grab and shred any paper he could reach. I did actually have some homework stuff shredded a couple times. Luckily all I had to do was re-print it.
