Just how much Pre-Columbian culture has been preserved in Mexico and Central America. There are still Mayan shamans who track the Heavy metal legend 90 trivium shogun shirt in other words I will buy this ceremonial calendar in Guatemala and worship the rain god Chaak beside Jesus and the saints. The figure of Santissima Muerte (Most Holy Saint Death) has complex origins blending European and Mexican imagery, but she has strong parallels with traditional Mexican death gods. Trust the Aztecs to wrap the Grim Reaper in a Virgin Mary robe and call her a saint. Several Aboriginal languages in Australia don’t have prepositions like the English “next to”, “in front of”, “behind”, etc. Instead, their languages always communicate direction by means of cardinal direction. I might say, “I’m north of you.” Then we switch positions and I would say, “I’m south of you.” Even if I’m directly facing you both times. Communicating directions in this way “wires” the brains of these languages speakers to always be aware of cardinal directions of people and objects around them.

One of these people did a speaking tour in the Heavy metal legend 90 trivium shogun shirt in other words I will buy this United States, and was interviewed by a couple of American television stations. During the interviews he would tell a direction-based story about something that happened in his village, and when directions were named he would move his hands in that particular direction. When the tapes were reviewed later – comparing the position of that particular building along the street grid, and the orientation of the studio room within the building, his hands always moved in the accurate direction per the story’s needs, regardless of his physical location/orientation in the world. The linguistic wiring was that powerful. People from the Fore tribe in Papua New Guinea practice funerary cannibalism. They eat the dead person’s brain to gain their life force. This is how they get the neurodegenerative disorder called Kuru which causes body tremors and outbursts of random laughter along with the loss of coordination. It’s incurable and fatal I’m not religious but my family’s Catholic. I live in a largely Catholic area, etc. But when I read The Secret Life of Bees (coming of age story about a white protestant girl in south Carolina running away and living with black Catholic women) and the girl was so shocked by the Madonna statue bc Catholics worship Mary? My response was protestants don’t worship Mary? That surprised me so much. I learned a lot about protestantism through that book tbh but that was the most shocking
