I’m at the Heart Diamond Atlanta Braves For Life Let’s Go Braves Shirt and I will buy this initial appointment and have the lady asking all the questions try to tell me that I was discharged for a preexisting medical condition and would not qualify for VA Healthcare. After trying to explain the situation multiple times, I asked her to read off what I’m claiming. She got quiet a moment, flipped through the paperwork, and said, “OK but the upper respiratory issues will be denied. You stated you played trumpet for a decade, so that’s why you have upper respiratory problems.” “You don’t need to live an active life” – it was during a consultation appointment to refer me to see an orthopedic surgeon for surgery. I was in my early twenties. I told the ortho surgeon what she said and he was in complete shock. He said this is the most routine surgery and completely fixable. It was at that moment I stopped using Kaiser. Once “anxiety” is written in your charts, it’s over. I have anxiety, I know this… it’s written in my charts and I take medicine for it. I went to the ER with chest pains. After the routine check the dr came in and gave me this rap about how 95% of people that come in are just anxious, no real chest issues.

As he was telling me it was all in my head and walking towards the Heart Diamond Atlanta Braves For Life Let’s Go Braves Shirt and I will buy this door I mentioned I had cancer so I worry about other issues more now. He stopped and sighed, came back in and asked about my symptoms again. After actually listening this time he’s like “you ever hear of pleurisy?”.. it was in fact pleurisy. One steroid pack later and I was fine. Man was legit gonna let me go home with scary chest pain cause he had me pegged as a neurotic faker. Nice. 1- my 54 y/o type1 diabetic dad was prescribed an oral medication (not to be taken by type1 diabetics) by a doctor who insisted he was type2 diabetic— as if 30ish years of taking insulin every day and numerous t1 diagnoses just.. don’t count????
