I can’t think for my father. I can’t read his mind. But he must have known how wrong it was. Especially coming from an abusive situation himself My parents did a lot of good, don’t get me wrong. My heart broke so many times when another dog was given away to someone else Don’t get pets if you can’t or don’t intend to actually care for them. Your kids will be heartbroken time and again. More than you realise Ps I had a massive fight with my father while we were on vacation in another country. In hindsight the entire hotel heard us (I’m sorry everyone, I was young and dumb and unaware, I was about 15 at the time and completely oblivious. I really am sorry for the racket). From that moment on he changed a little. He was still the first to say “I won’t babysit” instead of congratulations when I got pregnant (he would babysit my sisters kids constantly). I would do house chores when visiting and he would sit at the computer playing solitaire while being served coffee by me. All initiative comes from me. He won’t visit on my birthday because 2,50 for parking is too expensive. He will bake cakes (he used to be a pastry chef) free of charge -paying out of pocket for all ingredients- for anyone and he will spend 3 times the parking costs on gas to visit my siblings. I offered countless times to cover the parking, but spending 2,50 on my birthday is too much. You can probably see why I went no contact a few years ago. He’s still surprised pikachu about this

I was the youngest and pretty much ignored. Oddly enough we were not close. We were 2 years apart. Our son and daughter are 8 years apart. They’re best of friends. Their bedrooms are upstairs and we can hear them talking, laughing, “fighting,” all the time. He’s 25 now, she’s 17. Fiscal knowledge, money doesn’t grow on trees and learning to save and invest responsibly from a young age would keep them in good stead. I’m still learning that depending on an inheritance is not a good financial plan for one’s future. If you have the ability to and not take away from your own financial stability; pay for my child’s higher education. My ole man made over $150k 30yrs ago but never lifted a finger to help me through college. I didn’t make the same mistake with my lil girl; we paid for he 1st 4yrs in college plus gave her a used car w/ Ins & gas & cell phone plus lived at home.

Being the Harris Walz Thank You For Bringing Back the Joy Political T-Shirt But I will love this type that even when he was there physically, was not there figuratively. Can’t even begin to tell you how upsetting it is to go to a movie as a kid with your dad snoring loudly in the middle of it! Other examples too, but that’s one thing that still bugs me a lot. Alcoholism on my side and my husbands side. We both don’t drink often and never infront of the kids. My parents drank every night. hit them with objects. (hit them period really) force them to eat. show favoritism make negative comments about their bodies. and will always apologize for the unhealed parts of me that may hurt them. TW: ABUSE . . . I was abused by my father who was undiagnosed Bipolar and very abusive to my brother, mother and I growing up.

We never spoke about even to this day. It was swept under the Harris Walz Thank You For Bringing Back the Joy Political T-Shirt But I will love this rug. Mom never brought us to therapy or to talk to someone. She would remove us from the house while my dad was in an episode which would last a couple days. We would go to the closest city and stay there until he calmed down. Also, mom never showed affection. No “I love you, goodnight” before bed but my father the abuser did… Very strange. am see people bullying him and me not defending him or letting them defend themselves. This cost me a lot, I swear Respecting privacy and boundaries. Actually listening. Don’t scream and shout. Treat and talk to them accordingly to their age as they grow. Once they are an adult, talk to them like one. Never put blame on everyone else. Don’t instill fear and lack of confidence in them. Always be their hype team, never pick out their flaws and comment on the negative. Be patient and calm. I want my kids to actually be able to talk to me and not be scared of me or scared is getting in trouble. I could go on.. Lol

As a parent now I realize my dad was never mad at me, he was worried about me and just didn’t know how to say that. He didn’t say he loved me very much. Their biggest mistake with me was not using protection. Now I’m out here in the Harris Walz Thank You For Bringing Back the Joy Political T-Shirt But I will love this world, against my consent. I’m not having kids, so that prevents that mistake from being repeated. I might let me kid make more decisions, and may be try to be gentle with her, but tbh i am not sure whether it is a good idea….. You see….my dad used to be very strick with me, I remembered that I cried almost everyday when I was a kid. He would just asked me to stop and shut down my feeling. But this kind of training made me very thick skin, at least in the workplace and school. My capacity of taking insult is large. My emotion is so clam that I had a nickname of buddha when I was in uni. It did somehow make me learn more In the workplace and accept criticism from other people. However……the drawback is that I found myself cannot really say no to other people, and I think I also have serious boundary issue in relationships. I cannot speak for myself. If I am too lenient to my daughter, I am afraid that she might become some kind of ungrateful and entitled adult in the future. Smoking around them. I grew up with my parents smoking inside the house, in the car. Once I hit 11 or 12 i was stealing cigarettes and have smoked ever since. When I have kids I hope to not be like this.
Moving around, changing schools, leaving her with a nanny all day, letting her grandma guilt trip her because I have to work, let her be partially raised by grandparents, believing that all I do for her is a sacrifice, let her think that having divorced parents is something you don’t talk about… Make my kids believe that college after highschool is a must, even if I never plan on paying for it. My dad always drilled into my head that I need to go to college after highschool. Never had any intentions of helping me pay for it either. When I was graduating from high school, the Harris Walz Thank You For Bringing Back the Joy Political T-Shirt But I will love this pressure of knowing what I wanted to go to college for was overtaking me. I felt like a loser, not knowing what I wanted to do while all my classmates were applying for colleges. A friend suggested I go into nursing, I had the pre reqs, so why not. Well, I was accepted, put on a 2 year wait list, and couldn’t pay, so I applied for a loan. Needed to upgrade a course in the meantime, so I took random courses to get a full-time course load for approval. Got approved, dad was proud. Dropped out just before the program started because I figured it wasn’t for me and now I got debt. I eventually found the career I wanted but it took years and in still dealing with debt.
Placing blame on me without question. Every time I ever got into trouble when I was a kid, whether it was deserved or not, my Harris Walz Thank You For Bringing Back the Joy Political T-Shirt But I will love this mum would ask what I did to deserve whatever had happened to me. Like, all bad things were my own fault, no matter what. I even ended up accepting blame for things I didn’t do because it was easier than trying to defend or explain myself. I will always stand up for my kids, and even when they made stupid choices I tried to understand why rather straight up assuming they are bad people. I always want them to feel like someone is in their corner. Drinking water. My parents never gave us water and it has been life long battle. My kids drink water as their first preference every time and I love it. Me: sure thing kiddo, gotta get you started on that ASAP tho… Also I fucking love you to bits, did I tell you so today? I did?
