The Cancer Man smoked them in the X-Files as did Todd in Breaking Bad (Vince Gilligan for both shows), but I believe the brand name has been in use in Hollywood since the 1969s for film and TV. I read somewhere that when filming madmen they had to smoke those herbal ones, but nearly everyone smoked and would rush outside between takes to have real ones People are always surprised to learn that the cigarettes are herbal, the alcohol is water or apple juice, and the actors are not actually having sex Ha! This reminds me of when I was in high school (70’s) and persuaded kids to smoke “joints” I stuffed with dry burro shit. Placebo had them all acting “high” This reminds me of something that happened shortly before my dad passed away: My brother and he were watching the original Ghostbusters. My brother noticed that everyone was smoking furiously throughout. Especially Dan Aykroyd. Smoking his face off in every scene. Compare and contrast with GB2 from 5 years later and nobody is smoking. I never noticed this until then. I’m pretty sure it’s because it’s not a tobacco/nicotine product, not as much about the physical act of smoking in a ton of shots. It’s to keep from becoming addicted more than anything. It’s this or not getting the right scene in a movie or show, because getting the right scene isn’t worth making your actors addicted to nicotine. It’s not healthy but it’s miles better than cigarettes, and is really only meant for simulating real cigarettes, not for actual use (I hope)
